POSITION SUMMARY

The PRN Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) provides high-quality, patient-centered medical services on an as-needed basis to support clinic operations, provider coverage, and patient access to care. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, performing procedures within scope, and promoting health education in alignment with MedNOW Clinics’ mission and values.

PRN providers serve as supplemental clinical support and may be scheduled for planned shifts, emergent coverage, or high-volume needs. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to integrate quickly into varying clinic workflows. Providers work collaboratively with supervising physicians and multidisciplinary staff to ensure continuity and quality of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide direct patient care, including histories, physical exams, diagnostic ordering/interpretation, prescribing, and referrals according to established guidelines.
• Accurately and promptly document all encounters in the Electronic Health Record (Athena).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with demonstrated growth in responsibility and scope.
• Prior experience in a healthcare, medical practice, or multi-site organization strongly preferred; familiarity with physician-owned or provider-led environments is a plus.
• Proven hands-on experience administering payroll, benefits, HRIS systems, and employee records for an organization of comparable size (150+ employees).
• Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle recruitment for both clinical and non-clinical roles, including partnering with hiring managers and developing effective sourcing strategies.
• Working knowledge and practical experience with employee relations, including performance management, corrective action, and separations.
• Direct experience ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA and Colorado FAMLI (or comparable state leave programs).
• Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, handbooks, and procedures.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Businesses Administration, or a related field required
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP or equivalent certification preferred.

• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods in a standard office environment.
• Regular use of office equipment, including computers, phones, scanners, and copiers.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and exercise independent judgment.

Full Job Description:

this position is responsible for the quality and completeness of assigned medical services. The Nurse Practitioner or Physicians Assistant must be knowledgeable in systems improvement and provide primary health care services consistent with the philosophy of MedNOW Clinics.  This position is responsible for providing care for ambulatory patients through regular health assessments and the management of common acute and chronic stable conditions. The Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant obtains a health history and performs a physical assessment, identifies problems, and formulates plans that include treatment, health education and counseling. The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant collaborates with other health care professionals in assessing and managing health care problems and maintaining continuity of care.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Delivery of compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based chronic pain management to all patients, regardless of age, gender, or ethnicity.

·        Utilize the multimodal approach offered by our clinic, including rationale medication management, referral for mental health care, physical therapy, and interventions as indicated.

·        Perform appropriate and timely work-up of patient symptoms to identify pain generators and formulate treatment plans.

·        Maintain accurate and detailed documentation regarding all patient interactions, and complete paperwork in a timely manner.

·        Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks with referring providers, and participating in professional societies.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

·        Must be a board-certified Mid-level Provider.

·        Must have a Colorado medical license and DEA.

EXPERIENCE:

·        Must have experience with family practice or urgent care medicine

·        Knowledge of routine care and chronic conditions. 

·        Collaborative team player and excited to work within a multidisciplinary framework.

·        Must have the safety and well-being of each and every patient as the highest priority.

Provider is expected to have a full and unrestricted Colorado license and DEA certificate. They will work closely with our physician providers in a collaborative care model.
